{Weekend Things} & Floating Dreams

Bonjour flowers,

Happy Monday, hope the weekend was bliss for everyone. It was so nice here, the sun was shining, I finally got to open all my windows and let the breeze blow through the house, amazing what a difference even that can make to your mood. I busily with the help of my sweet husband and daughter did some cleaning (children's rooms can be like mayhem) and sat printing photos out to hang in frames that I had hanging in the house - to which I jokingly told people there were pictures in them - invisible ones & sadly some people started to believe me ;) hehe. Or maybe they thought I was crazy, which isn't far off. But, since I have files and files of pictures I've taken, its grand to see them now displayed around. I have of course left some empty to put ones of my new baby in once he/she arrives! My husband made us a delicious light soup, which I enjoyed very much, will post the recipe soon :) I do hope all of you had a grand weekend & the week is even better too!!

Loves n' loves,

{I just love this picture, if I knew this exquisite bed wasn't soaked, I would happily lay here reading books and watching the birds fly by}

Friday, woo-hoo!! And what's even better is it's another sunshiny day outside! If it continues, I shall be spending the weekend outside enjoying it after a long sleep in ; ) I think I may go out to the water to listen to nature where it's quiet and not too many people are crowded around. I was actually half way up a tree when I took this photo..sometimes the best looking flowers are the ones that aren't able to be touched by passersby. Nothing says Spring to me than flowers all over the place, the perfume they leave in the air is calming. Although I don't really take too many pictures of flowers now..I do try to stop and smell them once in a while I'm out with my camera. I found this quote randomly & it kind of hit on where I am just now, thriving towards getting where I want to be, sometimes people can make you think you're not good enough, but you have to look inside yourself and rebel against that, because at the end of the day, other's opinions mean nothing, it's you that lives your life & you should live it the best way you can & achieve all you wish to achieve. I think when we deny being fully ourselves, we deny the world of seeing just how marvelous we are :) Have a sunny and bright weekend filled with happiness!!

Lots of love,
xoxoxo

{Daydreams} Amongst the Flowers

Spring Summer 2011 - The Campaign from Mulberry on Vimeo.

Ahh..it's finally officially spring & I am lovin' it!!! The sun has been shining here and it's beautiful!! I love spring, flowers coming out, birds singing, new animals hopping around in the fields (when your in the country that is) the air fills your lungs and you feel alive once more. I am definitely a Spring/Summer person rather than a winter person. Although I do adore Autumn (Fall as called in the US) too with all it's magical colours! My weeks lately have been baby shopping mostly, to get those last items needed, more shopping will be done after the baby arrives as we will then know if I have a prince or a another princess :) But, I have managed to sneak some items in my cart for myself which I will try and share with you all soon. I quite liked this advert from Mulberry & wanted to share it with you in all it's Spring glory!! I hope you have a beautiful day & that the sun will shine for you no matter where you are!!

Happy Spring!
Lots of loves

{Discoveries} Fridays & Lovely Things

Another long week, full of outrageous weather & sadness for a beautiful country. With all this that flowed in, I really had to step back and let some positives come in, so it wouldn't bring me down so much. I think if you have positivity in your life, your more able to give it to those who are in need. And let's be honest Japan is really in need of love & caring after the loss of so many lives. Fill yourself up with love & positivity, then shine it on those in need, you could just be saving their lives. I just give thanks for being alive and safe and hope the same for those in need. So, these are the lovely things I discovered this week. Have a great weekend & remember to smile, laugh and love!!

Favourite scene of a movie loved as a teenager

{The Outsiders}
Taken from the book of the same name by S.E. Hinton, movie from 1983.
A must read book & see movie. About the importance of seeing things as a child, new and never letting that go, because there is still so much good in the world.
I still love this movie

Words of Wisdom

My Symphony

To live contently with small means...To seek elegance rather than luxury and refinement rather than fashion..To be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich...To study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly...To listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart...To bear all cheerfully, doll all bravely, await occasions, hurry never...In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden and unconscious grow up through the common...this is to be my symphony!

William Henry Channing
(1810-1884)

Music To soothe the soul

Despite tragedies, the world is beautiful. If we bind our hearts together, we can show this to those who have been left heartbroken and heal their pain. We belong to each other as human beings and there isn't anything one can't get through when there is someone else who cares for them.

Japanese Proverb: 'Fall down seven times, stand up eight'! Shows their persevering character.

I'd really love one of these in my house, that clock on the bottom is exquisite!!

{Dolled Up} Easy everyday styles for long hair

Hello, I hope everyone is well! I decided on something new for postings, called 'Dolled Up' like a 'How To' kind of thing, as I really enjoy making things or learning new ideas, and as this last winter rain seems to be sticking around, I decided to start with something for the hair. Lately I have been too tired to want to do anything with mine, expecially since the rain wreaks havoc on it. I have long thick curly hair that reacts to the seasons in a not so nice way & I came across these ever so sweet hair tutorials and decided to share. Lilith is a doll and I enjoy watching her many different ranges of styles that she posts on youtube. It gave me some inspiration for tackling those days when my hair is out of control. I posted this one as wearing my hair up just now is easier than having it down. I hope you enjoy it, I'll maybe post more of hers at different times. You can find her on Facebook & Youtube. Have a precious day & keep safe!! Am off to have cake, it's my husband's birthday - YAY!!

P.S. I'm having troubles commenting on some of your blogs for some reason, am trying to figure it out, so I'll be around soon :) x

Red Nose Day 2011

This Friday, March 18th is Red Nose Day for Comic Relief. In the UK it's where the whole country joins together in doing something funny for money and change the lives of those in need in Africa. The crazier you get, the more money that can be raised to make a difference in the lives of many. Celebrities, Sports personalities, Musicians, anyone can do something to donate money. Whats more better than giving to someone in need and making life for them a little easier, wouldn't anyone want the same!?! Everytime the event comes along, we sit and watch all the different people doing something crazy to raise money and awareness & also watch the stories of those the money raised goes to help, I can't help but be brought to tears & realise my bad days are nothing compared to those innocent lives face everyday. Please check out the website for Red Nose Day & donate or raise money as you can, you could save someone's life!!

xoxoxo

Also, let us not forget all of the countries that have recently been dealing with tragedies themselves, Australia, Japan & Hawaii. Now is the time to bind together and help those in need. Because if these things can happen there, they can happen anywhere.

.......Hello dolls! Not sure about you, but I am exhausted. More and more I grow tired as I get closer to my due date, I have nesting like crazy, just want to clean everything, but I know I must rest and take it easy while I can. Which is what brought me to these restful photos, the colours are so calming. And I love any music with some strings in it as its one of my favourite instrument. So, I threw that in as well. I shall strive to get some rest this weekend & some fun too.....

Happy Friday! I hope its a great one for you all,
xoxo

Also more importantly lots of Love & prayers to those in Japan after this devastating earthquake & then tsunami hit, I hope everyone is safe, found and rescued. Such a beautiful country & people.

P.S.S. If your a new 'follower'..welcome to the Doll's House, feel free to say hello!! I can't always tell when I have new 'dolls' (I don't like the term 'follower' much) on here, as some like to have their subscription private as I do on some pages & some just like to say they are following you, so you follow them (weird), so I have no way of telling & to be honest, numbers matter little to me, I enjoy more reading comments and hearing anothers' opinion :) But, welcome to you all & enjoy!!

Wild Abandonment + Life

"Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect, just be an excellent example of a human being".
- Anthony Robbins (b.1960. self-help writer & speaker)

P.S. - as you can see, my blog has changed, I'm still adding things, but I just wanted something more tranquil just now :) The stripes will pop up again I'm sure ;)

Red Velvet Woopie Pies

Prep time: 25 minutes
(plus cooling time)
Cooking time: 14 minutes
Total time: 39 minutes

Ingredients

75g unsalted butter, softened
125g light brown sugar
1 medium egg
1tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking powder
175g plain flour
50ml buttermilk
1rbsp red food colouring (I used a natural food colouring)

For icing

50g cream cheese
30g unsalted butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
225g icing sugar, sifted over the top (I forgot to do this for the picture, too eager to eat them ;)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 180°C, fan 160°C, gas 4. Line 2 baking trays with baking parchment. Beat together the butter and sugar using an electric hand mixer for 2–3 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until well combined. Add the baking powder. Whisk in the flour and buttermilk in alternate batches on a low speed, starting and finishing with the flour – be careful not to over-beat. Whisk in the food colouring and a pinch of salt.Spoon the batter into a piping bag fitted with a 1cm plain nozzle. Pipe the batter onto the baking parchment in small circles, about 2–3cm in diameter. Leave a 3cm gap between each as they will spread.Bake for 14 minutes, or until they’re puffed up and spring back on touching. Cool on the baking trays for at least 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. For the icing, beat the cream cheese and butter using an electric hand mixer. Add the vanilla extract and icing sugar. Beat on a low speed at first and increase the speed until the icing is smooth and fluffy. Use the icing to sandwich the pies together in pairs, with the flat sides facing each other & Enjoy!!

....Happy Friday beauties! I am so glad it's the weekend, I plan on sleeping in and spending the day relaxing after a long week. I don't know how I came across these pictures. This series was taken some time ago, but I love fairy tales, it was a treat to find them. Eugenio is a marvelous photographer & after viewing much of his other work, he really knows how to bring visions to life. Mixing perfectly a dark essence with with a dreamlike quality. Browsing over his work, pictures look like paintings, viewing his other work is a must. Enjoy!

Have fun

There is Beauty in The World

‎"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
